Cuarenta familias campesinas del departamento del Meta exportaron a Alemania un cargamento de 4.300 kilos de cacao especial, denominado así por su perfil sensorial en calidad, sabor y aroma, en una operación que abre nuevas posibilidades para que más productores de esta región del país ingresen al mercado internacional con un producto que les garantiza ingresos fijos para sus familias.
El cacao enviado al mercado alemán proviene de cinco asociaciones campesinas de los municipios de Granada, El Castillo, El Dorado, San Luis de Cubarral y Guamal, que se agrupan en la Cooperativa Multiactiva Nodo Agrícola Cacaotero Workakao, la cual asocia a más de 900 familias del departamento.
La operación se concretó luego de una negociación que realizó Workakao, con el apoyo técnico y financiero ofrecido por Ecopetrol, Repsol, Socodevi y la Embajada de Canadá en Colombia, mediante su programa Agroemprende Cacao.
El producto exportado es un grano denominado “especial”, que llega al exigente mercado europeo gracias al trabajo que realizan desde el año 2019 las asociaciones cacaocultoras Coopasopadra, Asopcari, Agroguamal, Asofrud y Asoccuba.
